Tutoring with miss maths

Once I’d left my teaching position, I decided to start online tutoring. So far, I’ve tutored over 50 young people, and I love it! It’s amazing to watch them grow in confidence, and not only see them succeed but also see how proud they are of themselves when their exam results come in. There’s a lot of fun to be had too!

By joining tutoring sessions online, young people can learn while in a familiar and comfortable environment at home or in the classroom, and they can join from anywhere in Wales, or the world for that matter!

I offer a range of different tutoring options, each one held in a safe, friendly, and supportive environment for young people:

1:1 Online Sessions

Perhaps your child doesn’t attend school for personal or medical reason and is homeschooled, or maybe they just need a little extra help to guide them with the work, where it’s easier to ask questions.

I am available during school hours (9am - 3pm) only for these sessions. In 1:1 sessions we can talk about any aspect of the work that’s proving difficult, before looking closer at the work, having open conversations, and start practicing. I offer continued advice and support and ensure that the individual’s understanding develops from session to session.

GCSE INTERMEDIATE TIER ONLINE COURSE

I offer a Welsh online course, for young people who need to pass their Mathematics - Numeracy Intermediate Tier exam. The course includes short video clips of myself explaining the content of the GCSE specification, going over examples, reinforcing the subject terminology and sharpening their mental maths. There are exercises to be completed independently, which they can mark themselves. A work booklet also comes as part of the online course. Therefore, this course can help young people learn the work thoroughly, in their own time, online, from the comfort of their own home (and it saves paying for weekly tuition - yay!)

Online Group SESSIONS FOR SCHOOLS

There may be a target group within your school that requires additional support to develop their maths, but the time or resources just isn’t there to support this at the moment. The target group can learn and develop in the company of their friends, with continued advice and support. There would be regular catch-ups with the relevant teacher/s to ensure that everyone’s understanding develops from session to session. Each student will need a computer or laptop with access to the internet and headphones.

“I got an A* in my Maths and an A* in Numeracy.”

Her maths has really developed Thank you so much for all your help – you’ve really helped me get these grades!”
